Teaming up with Marine Moms-Bethesda
TOR has been fortunate enough to collaborate with this nonprofit dedicated to providing comfort and comfort food for the families going through complex recovery and rehabilitation at the recently combined Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, MD. On a given Sunday, a team of Marine parents prepare an elaborate, homemade luncheon for the families, their injured servicemember, and the dedicated hospital staff while several TOR volunteers provide seated massage for everyone and sometime work on patients in their beds or wheelchairs. The Women of N Street Village
A crew of TOR volunteers have been providing table massage to clients at the integrated Wellness Center of N Street Village in Washington, DC. They take a holistic approach to mental and physical well-being by providing an array of health services including health education, crisis intervention, psychiatric referrals, dental, chiropractic, reiki, music and arts therapy, and massage therapy.
Marine Corps Marathon and Team Fisher House
Our annual event with Fisher House was a huge success despite the snow and rain the day before the race that turned the grounds into a mud pit. Fisher House Foundation and TOR volunteers worked together to provide a record number of TFH runners (over 300) warm hands (sometimes 2 pairs) on ten welcoming tables.
St. Louis Fisher House
A new team of volunteer massage therapists is forming to serve the residents and staff at the recently opened St. Louis VA Medical Center Fisher House. We hope to offer a variety of holistic healthcare services to augment the seated massage therapy in the near future.
