Teaming up with Marine Moms-Bethesda/Bethesda, MD
TOR has been fortunate enough to collaborate with this nonprofit dedicated to providing comfort and comfort food for the families going through complex recovery and rehabilitation at the recently combined Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, MD. On a given Sunday, a team of Marine parents/volunteers serve an extensive, homemade luncheon for the families, their injured service member, and the dedicated hospital staff while several TOR volunteers provide seated massage for everyone including patients in their beds or wheelchairs. It has been extremely rewarding.
The Women of N Street Village/Washington, DC
A crew of TOR volunteers have been providing table massage to clients and residents at the integrated Wellness Center of N Street Village in Washington, DC. The Wellness Center takes a holistic approach to mental and physical well-being by providing an array of health services including health education, crisis intervention, psychiatric referrals, dental, chiropractic, reiki, music and arts therapy, yoga and massage therapy. Our team of dedicated therapists come to the center weekly to give women 30 min. focus sessions.
Marine Corps Marathon and Team Fisher House: October 27, 2013/Arlington, VA
Our annual event with Team Fisher House is always a huge success. Fisher House Foundation and TOR volunteers worked together to provide post race massages for TFH runners and volunteers. Held at the Charity Village area near the finish line at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington, VA, the massages are provided by 15-20+ volunteer MTs. Contact us for more details and to volunteer.
Avon Walk for Breast Cancer: May 3-4, 2014/Chevy Chase, MD
We dedicate this annual event to our dear friend and colleague, Monika Holland, whose spirit drives us to continue serving this community after losing her battle in the beginning of 2012. She introduced TOR to this incredible weekend of celebration, dedication, and love. Join us next Spring for a fun-filled weekend of massage and camaraderie.
